Meet the Team

Alyssa Potter

Founder

Alyssa is an emerging ceramic artist who has been focusing on building the Clae Space studio for the last couple years. After attending WEDGE: the 2025 Australian Ceramics Trienniale, she has become inspired to take her work to a different level.

She focuses on both a production practice that creates functional ware that creates joy in every day moments and a sculptural, slow and mindful practice that sees her embrace her creative flow.

She is inspired by colour to remind us of how joyful life is and the privilege of living and the connection with others. Her sculptural work is reflective of our transient time on this earth and is inspired by the nature and bush around her in Eltham and Australia.

Alyssa is very passionate about being inclusive as a neurodivergent (AuDHD) person herself as well as parenting neurodivergent kids. Her life is multifaceted and her time away from the studio is spent as a performer for the YouTube group Bounce Patrol, being active in the school and local community as well as being a wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend.

Her brain is always turning around new ideas and new ways of making ceramics accessible as well as new creative ideas that she wants to bring forward into Clae Space and the world.

Growing up in Victoria, BC Canada, she moved to Australia in 2008. She has always been creative in different mediums - from embroidery to sewing to drawing to painting to baking and other crafts.

She was mentored by the previous studio owner, Daisy Cooper, and took on the role of Studio Owner/Studio Manager when Daisy moved back to the UK with her family.

She is grateful every day for the community of Clae Space - its students, members staff and teachers.
