This Child Safe Policy sets out how Clae Space creates and maintains a child-safe environment for all children and young people who attend our studio. It explains our commitment to their safety and wellbeing and outlines the standards of behaviour we expect from everyone who works with us.
Scope
This policy applies to all children and young people under 18 years of age who attend Clae Space, all programs involving children, and all staff, teachers, assistants, contractors, and volunteers.
Our commitment to child safety
Clae Space is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children and young people, preventing harm, upholding the Victorian Child Safe Standards, and engaging families and communities in promoting safety.
Legal and standards framework
This policy is informed by the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005 (Vic), the Victorian Child Safe Standards, and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
Roles and responsibilities
Alyssa Potter, Studio Owner, is the Child Safety Officer responsible for implementing this policy. All teachers and assistants must hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) and report concerns directly to Alyssa.
Child participation and empowerment
Children are encouraged to share feedback, voice concerns, and participate in decisions that affect them in a safe and respectful environment.
Recruitment, screening and supervision
All teachers and assistants must hold a valid WWCC, undergo screening, and be supervised appropriately. Clae Space ensures no one-to-one unsupervised situations occur wherever possible.
Responding to concerns or complaints
Concerns are taken seriously. Immediate risks are reported to Victoria Police (000). Other concerns are reported to Alyssa Potter, Studio Owner, at hello@claespace.com
Safe physical and online environments
Studio layouts and practices promote visibility and safety. Photo and social media use involving children requires consent.
Review and continuous improvement
This policy will be reviewed every two years or sooner if laws or circumstances change. Feedback from families, staff, and children informs improvements.
