Maker’s Club Terms & Conditions

Maker’s Club provides independent makers with structured access to Clae Space’s shared ceramics studio environment. Membership supports personal creative practice alongside classes, workshops and private events operating within the studio.
Membership Structure
Membership is $270 per calendar month.
Membership includes:
Minimum commitment of 3 months
Automatic continuation month-to-month after the minimum commitment period
Option to prepay for 6 months at a discounted rate
Option to prepay for 12 months with one month free
Membership fees remain payable whether or not the studio is used.
Membership fees are non-refundable once paid.
Clae Space may adjust membership fees with written notice provided prior to any change taking effect.
Memberships are non-transferable and cannot be shared.
Studio Access
Maker’s Club membership includes:
Up to 15 hours of studio access per week
24/7 access via approved entry arrangements
Use of pottery wheels, slab roller and shared hand-building tables
Use of shared studio tools and equipment
One dedicated personal shelf
One personal cubby
Clae Space operates as a teaching studio. Access to equipment or areas may occasionally be limited due to classes, workshops or private bookings.
Advance notice will be provided where possible when access is restricted.
Induction Requirement
Members must complete a studio induction prior to commencing independent use of the studio. Members agree to follow all studio safety procedures and operational guidelines at all times.
Materials Included
Maker’s Club membership includes:
Reclaim clay for studio use only
Access to shared studio glazes
Access to shared studio underglazes for in-studio use only
One bisque firing per piece
Additional bisque firings of the same piece are charged at the member firing rate of $12 per kilogram.
Only work produced within Clae Space may be fired under the membership bisque allowance.
Firing Charges
All additional firing (including additional bisque firings and glaze firings) is charged at $12 per kilogram for Maker’s Club members.
Firing is invoiced monthly.
A minimum firing charge of $12 applies per monthly firing invoice. If no pieces have been fired, no charges will be incurred.
A small-piece handling fee of $20 per firing will also be charged for multiple small items.
All members work will be weighed by studio staff after bisque firing.
Pricing may be updated from time to time to reflect operational costs. Notice will be given of any pricing changes.
Underglaze and Glaze Use
Shared studio underglazes and glazes are available for in-studio use only.
Underglazes and glazes are not included for take-home use.
Maker’s Club members receive a 15% discount on selected underglaze purchases through the studio.
Members may bring personal underglazes and glazes for use within the studio.
Members are responsible for ensuring personal materials are suitable for studio firing temperatures and processes.
Kiln Use and Responsibility
Members are responsible for preparing work appropriately for firing.
This includes supplying cookies for under any grogged clay such as Feeneys Hand Building. If members would like to use Clae Space’s cookies, these will be charged at $15 per firing.
Glaze must be applied correctly and bases cleaned prior to firing.
Clae Space reserves the right to refuse to fire work that may damage kiln shelves, kiln furniture or other members’ work.
Members are liable for damage caused to kiln shelves or equipment due to their work and/or materials.
This includes but is not limited to buying replacement kiln shelves if glaze work sticks to the shelf, element replacement, kiln brick work replacement and/or electrical repairs. These will all be charged at the current market price.
Should any glaze run onto the shelves and require grinding off, each glaze run will be charged at $15.
Any damage to the kilns or studio equipment from your firing will be invoiced to you for payment within 7 days. Payment is required before your pieces can be picked up.
Storage
Each Maker’s Club member receives:
One dedicated storage shelf
One personal cubby
Storage is intended for active studio work only.
Following membership cancellation, remaining work and materials must be collected within 14 days of the membership end date.
Items remaining after this period may be cleared and become the property of Clae Space.
Studio Expectations
Members agree to:
Clean their workspace after each session
Follow bucket cleaning systems for clay and glaze materials
Return tools after use
Maintain shared studio spaces respectfully
Avoid disposing clay or glaze into sinks
Members are expected to allow approximately 15 minutes at the end of each session for cleaning.
Health and Safety
Members acknowledge the inherent risks associated with ceramics practice including:
Exposure to silica dust
Use of sharp tools
Handling glaze materials
Operation of kilns and heated equipment
Members agree to follow all safety instructions provided by Clae Space.
Food must be consumed only in designated areas. Smoking is not permitted inside the studio.
Access Limitations and Studio Closures
Clae Space reserves the right to:
Adjust studio opening times
Limit access where required
Close the studio for maintenance
Close the studio for private events
Close the studio during public holidays
Advance notice will be provided where possible.
Membership Cancellation
Membership has a minimum commitment period of 3 months.
After the minimum commitment period membership continues month-to-month unless cancelled in writing.
Members must provide 14 days written notice to cancel membership.
Membership fees already paid are non-refundable.
Clae Space reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership where behaviour negatively impacts the shared studio environment or where studio policies are not followed.
Liability
Members bring personal belongings into the studio at their own risk.
Creative Space by A Potter Pty Ltd (T/A Clae Space) accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property except where required by law.
Members acknowledge the inherent risks associated with working in a ceramics studio environment and agree to follow all safety procedures provided.
Nothing in this agreement excludes liability where exclusion is not permitted by law.
General Conditions
Members agree to comply with studio guidelines issued from time to time to support safe and respectful operation of the shared studio environment.
Creative Space by A Potter Pty Ltd reserves the right to update membership conditions with written notice provided prior to changes taking effect.
Agreement Acknowledgment
By commencing or continuing Maker’s Club membership, members confirm they have read and agree to these terms.
Cancellations by Clae Space
If Clae Space cancels or reschedules, you may choose a full refund, credit, or transfer.
